Do Your Research

The first step to build passive income as an affiliate marketer is deciding on your niche market. This step is critical to your success, so don’t ignore it.

When you are starting out, don’t go looking for a “secret niche” that no one else is selling to. Instead, start with what you’re good at or what’s interesting to you.

Find products in that are you’re interested in and see if those products are selling. Here are three things you can do to help you find your niche market.

  • Look at popular affiliate networks like JVZoo, ClickBank, or Commission Junction.
  • Head to YouTube and look for keywords that may be used for the niche you are contemplating.
  • Use Google and Google Keyword Tool to do the same keyword search.

Keep in mind, if you can’t find any other affiliates in that niche, then the chances are high that you are probably focusing on the wrong niche market.

Don’t Become Everything To Everybody

After you decide on the niche that you want to promote as an affiliate marketer, you need to determine the kind of affiliate marketer you want to be.

I’ve learned in my experiences that you is a bad idea to be everything to everybody. Not only it will drain you emotionally but your market will become confused about what you do.

There are three kinds of affiliate marketer you’ll want to become. But as a beginner in affiliate marketing, it is crucial that you only pick one of these.

After you’ve been doing it for a while, you can choose to branch out into the other kinds if you wish.

The Reviewer

As a reviewer, you would purchase products to review. After thoroughly testing the product, you would post the review on your blog, YouTube channel or social media.

It is important that you form your own opinions about the product and provide honest, ethical reviews in the form of a video or written content.

To do this efficiently, you have to go through the product and get a feel for the pros and cons and provide authentic feedback as one user to another.

By doing this, you can better engage with potential visitors, giving good recommendations for the products you are reviewing.

As a product review, you should own or have access to the following tools:

  • A good computer with decent speed.
  • An external good microphone and webcam.
  • PowerPoint, or an equivalent product.
  • Your own domain name for your website.
  • Social media automation tools like Hootsuite.
  • A budget to buy new products.
  • A way to track the movements of your visitors.
  • A way to track each click.

The Emailer

One of the most successful ways to start your affiliate marketing business is with an email list. The idea behind this affiliate marketing method is to grow an email list by providing a small offer to get people to join your list.

Once you’ve added them to your list of contacts, you can start using the autoresponder feature to promote products that you feel will help your contacts.

As an emailer, you should own or have access to the following tools:

  • An email marketing platform.
  • A document you’ve written or video you’ve created to offer your niche market.
  • A landing page for your visitors.
  • A good looking 3D ebook cover to attract interest.
  • A link tracking tool like Google Tag Manager.

The Social Media Personality

As social media grows in popularity, social media fan pages have exploded, giving fans a great mix of promotions and value.

If you decide to use social media to promote products for your affiliate marketing business, it is important to ensure that it remains classy, and not a place to post spam.

To be a successful social media personality, you need to create solid images and content while promoting your affiliate products.

As a social media personality, you should own or have access to the following tools:

  • A way to create social media images.
  • A posting tool so you can automate the posts like hootsuite.
  • A way to track each link like Google Tag Manager.

The Best Affiliate Network Platform

The best affiliate network it all depends on the niche market that you’ve selected and will require you to conduct some more research. Here are just some of the affiliate networks that you can use.

  • Clickbank carries an excellent variety of digital and physical products.
  • JVZoo is mostly digital products.
  • Commission Junction Affiliate by Conversant has a wide selection of products to choose from.
  • Amazon is one of the biggest affiliate networks.

When you are first starting out, you should sign up for just one network based on the research that you conducted.

Once you become more familiar with how the network works, you can begin to use multiple interfaces or even use a private program.

Start Generating Traffic

For new affiliated marketers, finding traffic can be a troublesome prospect, and many new affiliates get stuck on this step. However, traffic can be found in a lot of ways. Here are a few forms of traffic that are easy to start with as a new marketer.

Social Media or Forum Traffic

Using social media and forums is a great, free way to generate traffic. You can visit popular forums that are focused on your niche and offer free advice to the participants. In your signature, have a link back to your website, landing page, social media or YouTube channel.

It is essential that you offer accurate, practical advice on the topic. This can also be done with your social media pages by placing your links on your personal or fan page and offering information to different groups.

The quickest way to derail your efforts is by moving from group to group to simply post your links or contacting each person in the group via a private message with your link. This is called spamming and will not help you with your affiliate marketing.

Search Engine Optimization

This is another free way to gain traffic for your affiliate marketing business. This is one of the oldest forms of getting traffic and is based on keywords and search rankings. With search engine optimized content, you can leverage the power of search engines to get free traffic.

This approach takes a lot of work and can be tedious and time-consuming, but when done correctly it can result in a ton of visitors to your site, without spending a dime.

Paid Facebook and Google Ads

The fastest way to ramp up your traffic is through paid Google and Facebook ads. However, this option will cost you considerably more and has a higher learning curve than the other methods.

The intricacies of this process are too expansive to cover in this article, but you can find numerous resources online to help you out if you want to follow this path.

The Affiliate Marketing Secrets To Success

The Affiliate Marketing Secrets To Success

Regardless how you get traffic to your affiliate marketing business. The aim is to work smarter and use less of your time to get maximun results in a short amount of time. To tell you the truth, there are no such things as affiliate marketing secrets… BUT there are practical strategies that successful affiliates use and “forget to share”. Well, I found 3 strategies and they have become secrets revealed in the following article. Let me explain…

I Discovered 3 Affiliate Marketing Secrets

After months of researching and studying what the successful affiliates do, I discovered 3 of the best kept secrets. I call them secrets because it was the first time I’ve heard these strategies and it may be the same for you.

Now there are some things you must have in place within your business for these affiliate marketing secrets to work for you.

For starters, you’ll need to have a clear idea about your niche market. This is an essential ingredient for the following strategies to work for you. You’ll need to find your competition in all the social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and Pinterest.

Focus on the social media platforms where most of your competitors are found. After you’ve done your research, you should have raw count of where your competitors are and where they’re not. A pattern should emerge. It may well turn out  that most of your competitors focus primarily on Twitter.

Some niches tend to focus on Facebook. Whatever the case may be, identify the social media platforms where most of your competitors can be found. Make sure that, regardless of where your competitors are on the major social media platforms, you figure out how they distribute their content.

Look for clues to answer these questions:

  • Do they participate in group discussions?
  • Do they have their own pages or do they basically promote their content on other people’s pages?
  • What kind of hashtags do they use?

Pay attention to what they’re doing on the major social media platforms your niche market visits.

The Reverse Engineer Strategy

Pick apart your competitors’ patterns and work backwards to understand what makes them good. You should have a clear idea of where they promote on those social media platforms and do what you can to join some of their groups.

Another thing you’ll notice are going to be the hashtags that they use. Instagram and Twitter use hashtags. So, identify the hashtags that are most commonly used in your niche.

Gather a much information of the type of content that your competition is using within your niche. Specially the ones that are quite viral on social media. Then create an improved version of some of this content. This is your own top-notch content.

The Sandwich Strategy

The “sandwich” is a way to put your content on social media with your competitors’ very best social media content. In other words, you use high-quality materials produced by your competitors, to establish credibility and context.

When people see your brand on social media and they see your post, it becomes readily apparent that you’re only going to talk about a fairly narrow range of topics. This establishes your brand as the go-to-person or credible authority within a  narrow range of categories.

This is crucial because you can post all sorts of content about celebrities, political, economic stories or gossip. If you start doing this, then it’s going to dilute your message. To use the sandwich method, you’re going to have to stay on point with your topics. You have to stay laser-focused on your niche.

The way the sandwich strategy works is that you’re basically alternating between third-party content, your own content, third-party content and then call-to-action content and then back again. Remember your content is reverse-engineered from the best materials your competitors can come up with. In other words, you’ve taken their best and improved on it. Third-party content are useful link within your niche market. The call-to-action content is where visitors will opt-in and  signup to your email list.

The Social Automation Strategy

As you can tell from my description of the sandwich strategy above, this is going to be a bit much to handle on a manual basis. You can do that if you have a lot of spare time or if you’ve hired a virtual assistant from places like the Philippines or India.

However, the better approach would just simply be to automate. By using tools like SocialOomph or Hootsuite or one of many other versions of these two tools, you can feed your social media accounts a huge amount of content URLs ahead of time.

You feed them once, but these tools make sure to publish based on the schedule you set. You don’t have to publish manually one by one. Instead, you just input everything once, make sure you set everything up in terms of the think, the title as well as other elements and then the software does it on an autopilot basis.

This doesn’t mean that you’re just going to relax and take it easy. Even after the software is already posting your updates, you should also log into your social media accounts and engage with influential thought leaders or known-and-proven subject matter authorities in your niche on those different social media platforms.

This way they can republish some of your stuff. Maybe they can retweet your stuff. Whatever the case may be you end up getting some of their fans’ eyeballs because of your engagement with them.

Don’t think that just because you have set up your automated software that is all you need to do. You also have to manually engage on social media. It is social media so this means that you have to be social.

Conclusion

There you have it!

You just found the 3 affiliate marketing secrets to success. I hope you take action on what you’ve learned today. And one more thing, forget what you’ve heard about social media and the effectiveness of its traffic. Social media is one of the keys  to every affiliate out there. Go make it happen!
